When: Friday 27th of April, 7.00-8.30pm
Where: Fiordland Medical Centre Community Room Cost: $5 non members, free for members A Yin yoga class usually consists of a series of long-held, passive floor poses that mainly work the lower part of the body - the hips, pelvis, inner thighs, and lower spine. These areas are especially rich in connective tissues. The poses are held for up to five minutes, sometimes longer. Holding these poses for an extended period of time allows the body to give in to the poses and work on the connective tissue, also known as fascia, rather than using muscles and joints to hold us up. We are used to always processing thoughts and stimuli, and therefore we end up craving it, if ever the mind becomes quiet. Any kind of dynamic form of yoga caters to this aspect of keeping ourselves busy. Although the mind may calm down as a result of the active exercise, we are still feeding the part of us that craves intensity and wants to be stimulated. And this is where Yin is different. It allows you to stop, observe and just be. All equipment provided, for further details and registration please contact: Gemma Heaney P: 0275460777 E: [email protected]
